French President Emmanuel Macrons centrist Republique en Marche party is projected to win an overwhelming majority in the countrys parliament, according to preliminary results from Sundays first-round vote. The center-right Republicans were projected to come in second place, while the far-right National Front, led by Marine Le Pen, was expected to come in a distant third. Of the 577 seats in Frances National Assembly, Macrons party is on track win between 390 and 445 of them. Turnout was low on Sunday, with just 49 percent of eligible voters heading to the polls. The French will vote again next Sunday in a run-off to choose between the top two finishers. Macron was elected president just last month, defeating Le Pen in a run-off vote.
