Kara McCullough recently made a big splash as the newly crown Miss USA…
…and not in the way she would have preferred. A controversial statement she made during the pageant had many people taken aback and wondering who exactly this woman was.
Well, she’s a D.C. native.
The second D.C. resident in a row to win the title, following Deshauna Barber, a soldier, who took the crown last year.
McCullough made waves the night she was crowned with a divisive comment.
When asked if she thought affordable healthcare was a right or a privilege, she said she thought it was a privilege, and that rubbed some folks the wrong way.
In the wake of the controversial comment, she walked back her statement.
Regardless of how you feel about the incident, it’s hard to slight her for a lack of academic acumen.
She is a trained chemist, having undergone significant schooling to get to where she is today, and her job is no joke.
