Shane Meadows’ cult film This Is England hit cinemas nearly ten years ago now, with the story loosely based on Shane’s childhood.
It depicted the tough times he went through after his dad died in the Falklands War, andwhat lifewas like for working class skinheads in Thatcher’s Britain.
It was then followed up by a TV series, This Is England ’86, that was split into four parts and aired on Channel 4 – following some of the minor characters from the movie.
When this proved to also be successful,This Is England ’88 and This Is England ’90 followed. The British public allfell in love with the characters, namely Woody, Lol, Harvey and Gadget.
However, just when we thought that was the last we would see of the show, creator Shane Meadows has admitted one final film is on the cards.
According to The Sun, the filmmaker revealed:
“There is one This Is England left. I’ve got one last idea for This Is England but as a film that can be split as a hybrid – because it started in cinemas and ended up on TV, I would love to finish off with one feature-length episode people can watch in the cinema or on TV the same night.”
Both Shane and the cast have previously expressed their love of working on the show, and so Shane reckons that everyone would be willing to give it one last go.
“I know the desire is there from me and I’m pretty sure the cast, all of us, don’t see this as a job, we see this as a summer holiday. It’s tricky getting everyone together but I’m sure we can.“
This would be awesome. Pretty please, Shane!
