Nick Alexander, a 36-year-old British man who was working as a Merchandise Manager for Eagles of Death Metal, murdered in the Paris attacks left behind a devastated girlfriend.
His girlfriend, Polina, after having the news of his death confirmed – took to twitter:
Hours earlier she had tweeted, begging for help in locating him.
According to Rolling Stone, Alexander had also worked as a merchandise manager on multiple tours with Sum 41, Panic! at the Disco, and the Black Keys.
Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney told the magazine:
he was a really organized, super hard worker, really funny. I remember him always very content with being on tour. It was what seems to make him the happiest. After shows, when everyone would go wild or whatever, he would also be really reserved. He was just a sweetheart, that guy.
Joe Trohman, guitarist for rock band Fall Out Boy, tweeted a tribute to him:
Alexanders released an emotional statement, saying:
Nick was not just our brother, son and uncle, he was everyones best friend – generous, funny and fiercely loyal. Nick died doing the job he loved and we take great comfort in knowing how much he was cherished by his friends around the world. Thank you for your thoughts and respect for our family at this difficult time. Peace and light.
Alexander was with his friend, and former girlfriend, Helen Wilson, who was shot in both legs during the attack. She told The Telegraph that he was shot in front of her:
His back was to me and I couldnt see what happened and I tried to keep him talking and then I tried to give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and they [the gunmen] were just sort of in the shadows and they would shoot if anyone said anything.
Then he couldnt breathe any more and I held him in my arms and told him I loved him. He was the love of my life.
Our thoughts remain with all those affected at this tough time.
